Ahhh, Beautiful Ransburg Scout Reservation

Sorry about the long-time-no-post, but I’ve been extremely busy.

This is the first time that I’ve been able to sit down and relax since the end of NCS six weeks ago. It’s really been that long since I’ve posted to my blog. Anyway, camp is going well… last week ended probably the hardest week of the summer so far. The weather sucked…sunny and a nice balmy 95+ degrees almost every day. When I was up on the high course on Thursday and Friday, I was sweating so much that not only was it running into my eyes, but it was raining down off of my body like someone had turned on the water faucet thirty feet up in the air… it was bad. Next week isn’t looking as hot as last, but it’s still pretty warm. I’m going to assume that the weather from now on out will become much nicer…hopefully…

Anyway, some good news is that I am enjoying my time at C.O.P.E. If you all remember, I wasn’t looking forward to being down at the course this summer, but it’s turned out to be a blessing. The scouts I’ve had so far have been awesome (with the exception of a few) to work with and a good time to be around. I wish I had more time during the week to hang out with them outside of the course. Three of my scouts have been hired onto staff for the rest of this year and countless others have their names on a list to be sent an application when the office gets some copies made.

In other good news…
Carly from North Dakota might be coming to visit me in August. Plans are still really hazy, but she plans to head over to Indiana after her family reunion in St. Louis, MO. It’ll be nice to see her again after NCS. She and I have been trying to keep in touch on a regular basis. It’s quite difficult to do since we both work at camps and neither of us really has a lot of free time either.

The good news keeps rolling on in…like the storm that I hear outside my bedroom window…
Dependable Drew has asked me if there will be any Scoutcraft or C.O.P.E. positions open at Ransburg next summer! 🙂 Working with Drew again would be awesome! I really miss all the C.O.P.E. folks from NCS. Shout out to team All Aboard!. I don’t know if there will be any director positions open, but I’m goign to strongly encourage him to come and work with me :).

In some good, yet a bit depressing news…
My aunt, uncle and cousins from Texas are up in Hartford City for a visit. This is what makes it a bit depressing… They’re leaving friday, so I won’t be able to see them at all… :(. Hopefully they will return sometime soon to visit again.

Wow, you would think this post would be longer, but I’m tired and need sleep… so Imma have to cut it short.

What I see out my window…
Thunderstorms that I hope go away soon, really soon. I don’t want to do troop checkin tomorrow during the rain, that just sucks.

Song of the day Somewhere I Belong – Linkin Park. This has been the Song of the Day since the begining of Staff Week. It’s an awesome song.

Quote of the day “That is my principle objection to life, I think: It is too easy, when alive, to make perfectly horrible mistakes.” – Kurt Vonnegut, Deadeye Dick, the “book of the month” if you will…

Quote of Camp so far… “Kayak this…” – the night off crew 🙂

Fund formerly known as the Mac fund…
This is getting some revamping, it will soon become the “Buy Tom a New Ride Fund” because I’m tired of my Taurus, and I want a truck.

Next post should have some pictures from camp…

Until then, be safe, take it easy!
